ShadowCatcher News
With the recent announcement that the Writers Guild strike has been settled, the path is clear for Outsourced to be developed into a TV comedy by the successful Ken Kwapis, who produced the popular tv hit, The Office. Variety had already reported that "Universal Media Studios is producing the TV take in association with In Cahoots, the production banner headed by Kwapis and Alexandra Beattie. Kwapis, Beattie, Wing and Jeffcoat will exec produce, along with Tom Gorai and David Skinner, who produced the original pic via their ShadowCatcher Entertainment banner.” Ken's other TV credits include "Malcolm in the Middle," "The Bernie Mac Show" and "The Larry Sanders Show."

Outsourced (www.outsourcedthemovie.com) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to sold out screenings and great reviews, played to standing room only audiences at the Goa and Dubai festivals and opened the Palm Springs International Film Festival. In addition to being included in the Best of the Fest screenings at the conclusion of the festival, John Jeffcoat received the prestigious John Schlesinger Award for the Best Director of a first feature.
Outsourced opened nationally on September 28 in Seattle, Portland, Eugene, San Francisco, Austin and New York. The following week it extended to Los Angeles, San Jose, Berkeley and Palo Alto. Roger Ebert's glowing review included, "Outsourced...is a film bursting with affection for its characters and for India. It never pushes things too far, never stoops to cheap plotting, is about people learning to really see one another. It has a fundamental sweetness and innocence." And the New York Times affirmed that "the filmmakers treat Todd's story as a springboard for a smart look at the effect of cultural difference on work, friendship and love, and the global economy's impact on national and personal identity."
While Outsourced is represented by Cinemavault Releasing in all foreign territories, ShadowCatcher Entertainment rejected studio offers and made the bold decision to oversee all domestic distribution. Working with Lantern Lane Entertainment on theatrical and specific video ancillary sales, ShadowCatcher has assembled a new media team to create a viral online campaign that relies on social networking, private screenings and corporate sponsorships to pioneer a new distribution strategy that represents a pioneering approach to distribution. Outsourced continues to play theatrically in select markets across the country.
